Eternal Bliss Page 9

He got quiet, but still rubbed her. "Would you have it?"

"Maybe I would," she whispered. She imagined a little boy with his eyes and his smile. It gave her butterflies. She needed to get out of there to think, to come to grips with reality. She pulled away from him and he didn't stop her this time. She fastened her bra, buttoned her shirt, and pulled on her skirt, saying nothing.

Kyle sat up in the bed, took her hand and kissed it. "I didn't mean to upset you, I just needed to know."

"I'm fine I'm just tired and I've had a long day." She smoothed her sweaty palms down her skirt, and turned to leave.

"Aren't you going to kiss me goodbye? She leaned down and kissed him tenderly, with all of her unspoken emotions. Their mouths melded together in a sensual duel, a delicious promise of more to come. She broke the kiss and caught her breath. "Kyle, I think I might ... uh," She couldn't bring herself to say it out loud, no matter what he felt. "Um, I need to go."

He fell back on the bed and huffed out a breath. "Alright, drive safe and I'll see you tomorrow. Am I picking you up?"

"Yes, you can pick me up. Jeff is still going, right?" After the warning Jeff had given her earlier, she wasn't so sure. He seemed like he could be quite an asshole.

He cleared his throat. "Yeah, he's going. He's excited to meet Melanie."

"Somehow I doubt that, but when he meets her he'll be happy he went. Everyone loves Mel." She gave him another quick kiss." Alright, I'm gone. Goodnight."

  "Goodnight sweetheart."

  CHAPTER NINE

Kyle pulled into Laine's driveway, fully prepared to take on her mother, but Laine was waiting outside on an iron bench. He had the feeling she was going to say she loved him the night before, but chickened out. He felt the change during sex. He had almost broken her resolve. Almost. Then he mentioned the maybe baby, and her walls came right back up, shutting him out.

He pulled up next to the bench and got out to help her get into the truck. Once he got her in the truck, he was going to give her the bullet vibe he wanted her to wear tonight. He would break through those walls one way or another.

Damn, she was gorgeous. Her golden brown hair hung in loose ringlets over her shoulders, just above her breasts. Her long, lean legs were crossed, showing off their feminine curves. She wore a navy blue, silky dress that hit her mid thigh. He might not ever get used to her beauty or the fact she was his. He had never been thankful for a crash until her. She was one accident he was grateful for.

He rounded the truck and took her hand, kissing her wrist. "Hey, babe, are you ready to go?"

She nodded her head. "Yes, I'm excited about tonight. Melanie will be so happy to meet Jeff, and I get to spend time with you." She stood and he helped her into the truck. Her skirt did the same thing it had at the bar. She hiked up her leg to get in and showed off her ass.

The same ass he'd taken the night before. His cock tingled as he remembered. Her virgin hole had been his to take. No other man would ever touch her there. No other man would touch her.

He went around to the driver's side and climbed in. Before they left, he gave her a small gift bag.

"Oh ,Kyle, you shouldn't have gotten me a gift," she said as she opened it.

He watched her face as her brows drew together.

"What is it?" She pulled the little bullet out of the bag. It was silver with a flexible wire hanging out of it.

"It's a vibrator I want you to wear for me tonight." He waggled his brows. He waited for her protest, but it never came. He was right about her. She was a perfect submissive. "Do you need me to help you put it in?"

She held it up by the wire and inspected it. "How do I keep it in?"

"You're really tight so that will help, but you use your muscles to clamp down on it." He remembered those very muscles squeezing his cock like a vise grip.

She raised her skirt and slid her panties to the side, and pushed it in with a groan.

Just watching her put it in, made him hard as a rock.

"Wow, its cold." She looked down. "How do I turn it on?"

He held up the tiny remote. "You don't. I do." Then he pushed the button, making it vibrate and smiled.

Her head fell back against the seat and she clamped her legs together, giving a soft moan of satisfaction. "Mmm, I could get used to this."

He hit the button again. A more intense vibration reverberated through her body making her thighs twitch. "Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod," she chanted over and over. Her hands had a death grip on the seat. Her tiny nails were biting into the leather.

He turned it off before she came. They were still in her driveway and he doubted her mother would approve of him taking her in the front seat of his truck. If he had to watch her much longer, he would end up on top of her, pushing balls deep into her sweet pussy. He could already smell the muskiness of her arousal. This was supposed to break her, but it was having the same effect on him.

"We better get going." He had a hard time getting that sentence out.

"Have you ever been to Mama Vercelli's?" she asked, a bit breathy.

"No, but I hear it's really good."

"It's beyond good. It's orgasmic," she said and smiled.

He laughed and grabbed her hand and gave it a kiss. She truly would be his undoing. Not that he minded.

They pulled into the parking lot. Kyle parked in the back, out of view. He wanted a little taste of his dessert before he ate his dinner. "Scoot down in the seat for me baby. I need to taste you."

She lay back and spread her legs.

They were parked in a spot that no one could see what they were doing. There were no windows on this side of the building and a shade tree covered them.

He raised her skirt above her mound, exposing her bare split. Her juices were already coating the outside of her labia. He started there. His tongue darted out, running the length of her pussy, grazing her clit. She lifted her pelvis to get closer, when a knock sounded on the driver's side door. Kyle quickly pulled her skirt down, giving her a modicum of modesty. He jerked around in his seat to see who was about to be killed and saw Jeff standing there with a shit-eating grin on his face.

"Can I help you with that?" Jeff asked.

"Fuck no! Jeff, anybody ever tell you you're an asshole?"

Jeff laughed. "Only you. Every damn day of my life."

Kyle turned and checked on Laine, who was sitting up with her face turned away looking out the window. Fuck.

He saw her shoulders shake. Perfect, now she's crying. Dammit Jeff, I'm going to kick your ass. "Lainey, baby, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" He shooed Jeff away with his hand and tried soothing her.

Laine finally turned to Kyle and let out a roar of laughter. She might have been embarrassed, but she definitely wasn't crying.

He laughed with her, thanking a higher power for his reprieve.

"You had your taste. Now can we go eat?" she asked through fits of laughter.

He hopped out, pulled the hem of his shirt out of his pants to cover his hard-on, went around to her side, and helped her down. He pinned her against the truck for a moment to kiss her. She closed her eyes, twined her arms around his neck and damn if his dick didn't get even harder.

He heard Jeff a couple car widths away, curse and call Laine a Minivan. He'd have to deal with him later. Laine was anything but a Minivan.

He hoped Jeff and Melanie got along to take the focus off of Laine. He'd known Jeff long enough to know he was jealous.

Jeff opened the door, holding it for Kyle and Laine. Kyle wasn't oblivious to the look Jeff gave her as she passed him. He knew that look of contempt. He was thankful Laine was looking around the restaurant for Melanie. He leaned over to Jeff and whispered, "You better watch yourself where she's concerned."

Jeff nodded his understanding and moved to the reservation table. "Peyton, party of four."

The greeter checked the book, grabbed four menus and said, "Right this way."

He led them to a round table in the back of the room. It was set u
p for four with rolled white linen napkins and a large candle lit in the center of the table. The maroon table cloth made it look elegant and romantic. Perfect. Kyle thought.

Kyle held Laine's chair out and pushed it in when she sat down. He noticed she had been clamping her legs together for a while and chuckled.

The soft Italian music playing over the ceiling speakers added to the ambience, making Kyle love this place. It was perfect for Laine.

Jeff sat down and crossed his arms over his chest asking, "Where's Melanie?"

Laine pulled out her cell and dialed. "Hey, Mel, we're here." She put her hand over the mouthpiece and said, "She's in the parking lot. She'll be in momentarily." She closed her phone and said, "I think she's nervous."

"Yeah, she's not the only one," Jeff grumbled.

The waiter appeared with a basket of bread and four plates, asking, "Are we ready to order?"

"No," Kyle said, "But we would like to order drinks."

The waiter took out his pad and wrote their drinks down; as he was leaving Melanie showed up and took her seat.

Kyle saw Jeff's eyes bug out when he saw her. Laine had been right, Melanie was gorgeous. She was supermodel gorgeous. He also saw Melanie give Jeff a look of approval. This would be a very interesting dinner. Somehow or another, he thought Jeff and Melanie would make it to dessert and coffee. Kyle was stunned when Jeff offered his hand to her like a gentleman. Jeff was anything but a gentleman when it came to women. Hell, he couldn't even remember half their names.

"Hi, everyone, I'm sorry I was late."

  "Not a problem," Jeff said.

"Hi I'm Kyle, Laine's boy ... man." He didn't care for the boy reference in the word boy friend. He was anything but a boy.

"Hello, Laine's boyman, I'm Mel." He rolled his eyes at the nickname. He knew that was a mistake that would follow him now. He shuddered at the thought.

"I ordered you a white wine," Laine said. She snagged a garlic roll and held the basket for Kyle. He took one and watched her.

Laine dipped her bread in the oil and herbs took a bite and closed her eyes, savoring the flavor. Kyle slipped his hand in his pocket and turned the vibe on low. Her eyes snapped open, looking shocked as well as turned on.

  "What's wrong, Laine?" Melanie asked.

Kyle watched as her face turned a beautiful pink and said, "I think she really loves the food here."

Melanie turned to Kyle. "Boyman, I know she loves the food here; it's our regular place to eat for lunch. I meant," she looked like there was something wrong."

Laine cleared her throat. "I'm fine, Mel. I just had a bit of bread go down the wrong pipe."

Kyle turned the vibe off and watched her relax. She was so beautiful when she was turned on.

The waiter brought the drinks and took their orders. Laine and Mel ordered the lasagna, Kyle ordered the veal parmesan, and Jeff had the chicken parmesan.

Mel asked Jeff about being a fireman and they were lost in their own conversation.

Laine turned her gaze on Kyle. He held his hand out to her, she twined her fingers with his and nothing needed to be said.

He could read every emotion she was struggling with in her eyes. She wanted to give in to her emotions, but she was still afraid. He guessed this David did a number on her. He still had to get her to trust him completely. She had to trust he would always see to her needs, always be there for her. Pops had told him, "Once he found the one woman that changed his life in the first meeting, she would be the one." Kyle now understood what Pops had been talking about. He remembered Pops and Grams sharing a look he didn't understand until now. Now he knew they had been making love with their eyes. They had been promising each other everything. They were sharing every unspoken feeling.

He realized what he had been missing for so long. He missed a life beyond himself, something that can't be bought or found just anywhere. It had to be earned. It gave him something to guard with his life, to fight for, to keep close to his heart. Laine.

He took a sip of his wine and squeezed her hand.

Laine smiled at him and squeezed back.

Melanie's voice broke through to him. "And what do you do in the fire department, Boyman?"

"It's Kyle, and right now I'm on the hose. I go into the fire. But soon, I might make lieutenant and get to order the guys around." He looked at Jeff, who had a scowl on his face.

"I thought you didn't want to take the promotion," Jeff said.

"Well, I have other considerations in my life now." He looked at Laine. He knew he'd have to earn more money to take care of her, even though she seemed richer than Donald Trump. He also had to think about his personal safety. Before her, it was okay if he went into a fire and was injured, but if he was going to be with her, he'd have to take care of himself.

Jeff signaled for the waiter, ordered a beer, and told the waiter to keep them coming.

Kyle wasn't surprised. He'd just told Jeff, without so many words, he had found the one.

The waiter showed up with a platter full of plates and a cheese grater. He placed the women's plates first then Kyle and Jeff. He offered cheese, which Laine wanted a lot of. Something else he learned about her.

Her eyes lit up as she twirled a long string of melted cheese around her fork. As she took a bite, he turned on the vibe. The pure look of bliss she had as she chewed made him hard instantly. It was the same look she had on her face as they made love. "Is it good, sweetheart?"

She slanted her eyes at him. "You know it is, you sadistic bastard." She retorted.

He laughed, he couldn't help it. She was turned on, probably about to come, and he knew when she did, it would be hard to conceal.

He decided to give her the choice. "Would you like it less exciting?"

Without skipping a beat she said, "Nope, I like it the way it is." She twirled another fork full of cheese, popped it in her mouth and whimpered.

Kyle turned it up a notch, giving her all the little vibe had to give.

Laine gyrated in her seat, and said, "Ohmigod, this is so, so, so good, mmm, ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod good." She threw her head back and blew out a breath.

Kyle knew that was it. He turned off the vibe, but couldn't keep the smile off his face. He caught Jeff's look of understanding.

Jeff shook his head and started a conversation with Melanie, who dropped her fork in her plate and looked like she'd just seen the exorcist.

Kyle watched Laine come down from her orgasm. Her grass green eyes had a glazed look about them, and her skin was flushed with a fine sheen of sweat. He wanted to hold her, but just held her hand. Just the fact she went through with it proved she was starting to trust him. He might just have more of her very soon.

He would have to ask her why she went through with it later. He was surprised she had. Laine never ceased to amaze him. There was such a fire in her. There was an untamed quality that made her that much more attractive to him. He wondered if there was anything she wouldn't do. The dominant in him reacted strongly to her.

He watched her throughout dinner, her smiles at Melanie, her enthusiastic conversation, her mannerisms, which he'd yet to see. She insisted on a sex only relationship, so this was new territory. She was an enigma to him. She seemed so polished, so high class and yet, so wild and free.

"What do you do, Melanie? Jeff asked.

He was definitely interested in her, Kyle thought. The Jeff he knew didn't give jack or shit about his dates personal details and he never remembered their name for more than five minutes.

"I'm a lawyer," Melanie said sweetly. "Laine makes them and I break them."

Jeff seemed confused, so she clarified. "Laine is a wedding planner and I'm a divorce lawyer." Jeff nodded, understanding.

"You two should set up shop in the same building. Make it more convenient for the sorry suckers that go for that married crap. It never works out. One in two marriages ends in divorce these days."

"I have to agree with, Jeff. I know I must look like a hypocrite, but I have seen it
firsthand. They get married and everything is happy and wonderful for about the first six months, then splitsville," Laine said.

The waiter brought dessert; some sort of chocolate cake Laine and Melanie wanted to share. After the lasagna she had eaten, he wondered where she put it. The comment about marriage didn't bode well. Obviously, he would have to work harder than he thought. Jeff seemed to like her better now.

Melanie shrugged. "I happen to believe if you find the right person and you have a strong base of trust, you can make a marriage work even when things aren't that fun anymore. I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite, too, but I do believe in happily ever after, despite my job."

Laine scoffed, "You've also seen firsthand what can happen if you make it to the altar without Mr. Happily Ever After."

"David was an asshole." She clamped her hand over her mouth and said, "Oh. I'm so sorry Laine. I didn't mean to bring him up."

So, that's the David her mother was referring to.

Laine pushed her chair back. "Please excuse me," she said and stalked off toward the restroom.

Melanie let her head fall in her hands. "Oh, I shouldn't have said that."

Kyle had to know. "Tell me about David. Please?" He was dying to know what happened to Laine. What made her so distant, so opposed to a relationship, to love?

Melanie looked toward the restrooms. "I can't tell you that. If Laine wants you to know, she'll tell you. But I wouldn't bring it up if I were you."

Jeff seemed impatient, twitching in his chair and tapping the table with his spoon. "Melanie, are you about ready to go? I can walk you out." Jeff offered.

"I should stay and see if she's okay."

"I'll take care of her," Kyle said.

Jeff dropped forty dollars on the table to pay for his and Melanie's dinner and held his hand out to her.

"Kyle will take good care of her, I promise," Jeff said.

Melanie took his hand and looked at Kyle. "Please tell her I'm sorry."

"I will and don't worry, she'll be just fine."

Jeff cleared his throat and they left.

Kyle signaled for the waiter to bring the check and waited for Laine to return.

When Laine came back her eyes were puffy and her nose was red. Perfect, she's been crying. He swore right there and then that if he ever met this David asshole, he'd kick his everlovin' ass and then thank him for giving up Laine.
